UK Uncut, an anti-cuts group established in October 2010, has planned to make disorders in the peaceful demonstrations against the royal wedding and to make violent attacks in London.
The group is to attend the anti-royal wedding protests on 29 April in London, and has seemingly planned to dismantle the event under the slogan “Reclaim the Royal Wedding.”
Metropolitan police fear the UK Uncut members would follow last month’s enormous trade union protest against the government’s austerity cuts, when a group of masked militants attacked many shops and banks in London.
The group has called for all the anti-monarchists from across Britain to join the protest outside Westminster Abbey and Parliament Square, in order to express their outrage against the lavish celebrations.
The group has arranged to expose banners and placards and to cry out anti-royal wedding slogans.
Scotland Yard is to put about 5,000 officers on duty, of whom, 1,000 are planned to operate as mobile teams to deal with the disorders away from the wedding.
Assistant Commissioner Lynne Owens, head of central operations at Scotland Yard, said, “If anyone comes to London on the day of the royal wedding intending to commit criminal acts we will act quickly, robustly and decisively.”
